Bringing back the night with Wild-Light

Introducing “Wild-Light” by WE-EF

WE-EF has developed the concept of “Wild-Light” to reconcile the demands on nature conservation and the requirements of human users – an integrated system of adaptive lighting technology, sensors and connectivity.

Tech

Aluminium Recyclability by WE-EF

At WE-EF, we prefer to do things ourselves, this enables us to tightly control the entire operation from start to finish in developing a sustainable product.

Let us show you in a short VDO how the aluminium process works at WE-EF. Our luminaires use a marine-grade substrate, less than 0.1 % copper content aluminium alloy. This is one of the main elements that takes part in the WE-EF Corrosion Protection System. 90% of aluminium alloys used in WE-EF products are recycled aluminium.

Tech

Night Sensitive Lighting

All artificial light used at night can contribute to biological responses, impacting humans, wildlife and the environment. At WE-EF, we are committed to building awareness around the use of artificial light at night.

This drives us to review our processes and lighting concepts and place new demands on technologies and products. We strive to take a considered approach to Night Sensitive Lighting where we seek to find a balance between meeting the needs of humans, wildlife, plants and preservation of the night sky by improving our control options using dimmers, timers and motion sensors, and adopting warmer colour temperatures where possible, especially in areas of ecological significance.

FLC201 & FLC210 Product Presentation

The new FLC201 and FLC210 projectors offer specifiers and users power in the smallest form.

On the one hand, enormous design freedom thanks to the variety of configurations, on the other hand, planning security with consistent design and uniform technical parameters. The new projectors are perfect when it comes to light sources as inconspicuous as possible.

WE-EF FLC220-PP Profile Projectors

FLC200 profile projectors are used to project gobos, create sharply defined light circles or to precisely illuminate the contours of polygonal surfaces.

The WE-EF profile projectors with white LEDs, with tunable white or colour changer technology are suitable for numerous applications – such as subtly presenting buildings with warm to cool white light or the expressive illumination of facades with coloured light – from a distance as well. This means that in addition to outdoor use, the luminaires can be used for effective lighting scenarios in transitional or indoor areas such as atriums, halls and foyers.

This year WE-EF LIGHTING Australia/New Zealand is celebrating a quarter of a century in operation. The high calibre of products is an important part of our story, but the real secret lies in our ‘soft’ infrastructure – in our people and the relationships we have built and sustained over those 25 years with an extended family of sales partners and specifiers. AILA Festival 2018

The Expanding Field, the AILA International Festival of Landscape Architecture, took place at the Gold Coast Home of the Arts (HOTA) on 11-14 October 2018. My Future Street

A Video Summary of an Exceptional Project.

The Future Street Project took over the Alfred Street in Circular Quay, Sydney 12-15th October as part of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) 2017 Festival.

The Future Street was set up as a four-day activation, changing the way people used the street and educating them on the technologies of the future. It conceptually visualised how our streets of the future may look, and possibly will need to look in response to introduction of autonomous vehicles, smart city technology and urban landscape imperatives. The installation designed by Place Design Group included Complete Street, Green Street and Today Street and explored the possibilities of dedicating more space to people, cycling and public transport rather than cars to use. The unconventional design of the Future Street showed how innovative ideas around landscape, infrastructure and technology could make our cities, suburbs and towns more liveable, productive and sustainable.

During the Future Street WE-EF, one of the project contributors and the principal corporate partner of AILA, interviewed visitors on their opinions and feedback – the results are presented in a video summary, called My Future Street.

Projects

Adelaide Oval Development

Given the Adelaide Oval has enjoyed a proud history as one of Australia’s premier sporting and entertainment venues for more than 140 years, the team managing its $535 million redevelopment was aware that it needed to create a venue for the future.

Derek Broome, an Associate in Aurecon’s Adelaide office – the firm responsible for the lighting and electrical engineering services – described Adelaide Oval as “one of the most important buildings and pieces of social infrastructure in South Australia”.

Major construction works commenced in the first quarter of 2012 and finished in 2014. The project transformed the previous ageing venue into a state-of-the-art 53,500-seat stadium, with the effect of uniting the people of South Australia and creating vibrancy in the city of Adelaide.

The scope of this project means numerous WE-EF products were installed throughout the site to perform different functions. However, there are four that stand out relative to functionality and design: the DAC240 surface mounted exterior downlight; the VFL540 LED street and area lighting luminaire; the STO259 steplight; and the colour-changing FLC100 series LED/RGB luminaire.
